Using the Site

How do I view the digital Auction News magazine?
Click on the link from the home page or from Your Dashboard. You must be a registered user to view the current issue.
How do I view back issues of the digital magazine?
When viewing the current issue, click the "Archive" button link located in bottom border on the left.
Can I print a copy of "Auction News" via the website?
From the digital version of the magazine you can click the print icon located in the bottom border and print out selected pages or the whole publication.
How do I receive a regular weekly copy of the magazine by post?
UK subscribers can subscribe to our "Premium" subscription service, which includes a weekly copy delivered by post and customised E-Alerts. Please note we do not currently send postal copies to addresses outside the UK.
Why can't I see the full details for some of the auctions?
To see full details of all auctions you must be registered and logged in.
How do I find auctions containing the items I am looking for ?
All sales on our site are allocated to one or more of eight content categories which can be used to filter your search results. Our top level categories are as follows:
  • Industrial & Manufacturing
  • Vehicles and Motor Trade
  • Construction & Agriculture
  • Tradestocks, Household & Leisure
  • IT & Office Equipment
  • Catering & Food Production
  • Medical, R&D & Lab Equipment
  • Property & Land
Each top level category is further divided into sub-categories to make searching easier still. You can view all the sub categories from the “Auction” menu option at the top of the home page and further refine your search results by keyword, location and date range. 
What is my Watch List?
When you find an auction you are interested in, you can save it to your "Watch List". You can then easily refer back to the auction from the "Watch List" feature on your dashboard.
How do I receive email notifications of upcoming auctions relevant to me?
When you register your details you will be asked to indicate the type of goods you are interested in and whether you wish to receive email alerts. Opt-in registered users will received our weekly email of auction highlights and an email notifying you when the digital magazine has been uploaded. Premium subscribers may also opt to receive Email Alert of auctions matching their specific categories of interest. You can refine the emails you receive by selecting "Update email preferences" from your dashboard or opt out of receiving any further alerts by clicking the "Unsubscribe" link on the email.
How do I bid on an item?
Many of the auctions with online bidding listed on our site include a "Bid Now" link which will take you straight the bidding pages. If no link is available you can visit the auctioneers’ website for further information on how to bid.
Do I have to re-register on the auctioneer's site in order to make a bid?
Yes, in order to bid at an online auction you will need to register your details with the online bidding platform being used to host the auction.

User Registration & Subscription

Will my details be passed on to other companies?
Absolutely not. Auction News respects your privacy and will not pass on any personally identifiable information to third parties unless required by law. To help develop the site and ensure we are offering the best service to both you the customer and our advertisers, we do compile general data on site usage for analysis of trends and patterns. How secure are my payment details if I subscribe online?
Our Payment Service Provider is Sage Pay – the largest independent payment service provider (PSP) in the UK and Ireland. Sage Pay provides a secure payment gateway (Level 1 PCI DSS), processing payments for thousands of online businesses. When you enter your card details they are passed straight through to SagePay and are not stored on the Auction News servers. All transaction information passed between our site and Sage Pay’s systems is encrypted using 128-bit SSL certificates. No cardholder information is ever passed unencrypted and any messages sent to our servers from Sage Pay are signed using MD5 hashing to prevent tampering. Sage Pay is PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) compliant to the highest level and maintains regular security audits. They are also regularly audited by the banks and banking authorities to ensure that their systems are impenetrable. Sage Pay is an active member of the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) that defines card industry global regulation. In addition, you know that your session is in a secure encrypted environment when you see https:// in the web address, and/or when you see the locked padlock symbol alongside the URL. How can I change my registration details and categories if my circumstances change?
You can easily change your address details and preferences from your Dashboard.
What happens if I lose my password?
From the login page you can click the "Forgotten password" link and we will send an email enabling you to reset your password.
How do I view my subscription history?
Use the link on your personalised Dashboard.
If I subscribe but decide it's not for me, how do I cancel my subscription?
You can easily cancel your subscription at any time from your Dashboard.
What if I want to upgrade from the free registration to receive a weekly postal copy of Auction News ?
Go to the subscribe page and take out a "Premium" subscription package. Your postal copies will commence on the Monday after registration, provided you subscribed before midnight on the Wednesday prior, otherwise on the following Monday.

Registering as an auctioneer

Why register as an auctioneer?
Once registered, you will be able to view all sales on the site and edit your details from your dashboard. You can also receive email alerts of sales held by other auctioneers and view the digital weekly "Auction News" magazine. 
My company already appears on the website - do I need to register?
If your company is already listed on the site, please email or phone us and we will issue you with a username and password. This will prevent your details being duplicated on the site.
How do I edit my company and personal details?
Once logged in, you can edit these details from your dashboard.
Can I change the auction details listed on the site?
Not at present but we are planning to add this functionality in the future. Please contact us by email or phone and a member of Auction News staff will make the requested changes to your listing.
Can I register to receive E-alerts ?
Yes, on registration you can opt to receive email alerts of our highlighted sales and a notification when a new digital magazine is available.

Advertising with Auction News

What website advertising options do you offer?
We offer display advertising in our weekly magazine "Auction News" which is published in hardcopy and digital format every Monday. We also offer a range of "package" options which include web and Email marketing. For full details click here.

How can I book an advert in the magazine?
Please email us or call our office and speak to a member of staff who will be more than happy to help.
How do I book online advertising and Email marketing?
These are additional options which can be booked at the time of booking your magazine advertisement either online or over the phone during normal office hours.
Do I have to pay for my advertising in advance?
Until credit terms are established, advertisements for new advertisers will only be accepted if pre-paid. Payment can be made at the time of booking your advert online or over the phone by credit/debit card. Established advertisers with a satisfactory credit rating and a good payment history can be invoiced with our standard terms of 30-days from date of invoice.
If I advertise an auction in the magazine will it also appear on the website?
Yes, all adverts in the magazine automatically include a free web listing. The bigger the advert booked, the more images can be included with your web listing.
