Key Stakeholders from Across the Leasing & Finance Sector joined Hickman Shearer at their Inaugural Insiders Event

17th November 2023

Hosted by Hickman Shearer, the event at the MINI Factory explored the question ‘how will decarbonisation impact machinery and equipment funding?’. The agenda attracted lessors and financiers who wanted to further comprehend how the leasing and finance industry needs to respond to the sustainability conundrum.

Speakers included Tim Campbell, from Campbells Consultancy, who offered insights on the commercial transportation sector. Tim discussed the challenges surrounding the electrification of commercial vehicle fleets, as well as the influences and solutions both locally and globally.

Tim was also joined by James Wallace from Fortescue’s battery intelligence unit, Elysia located in Grove, South Oxfordshire. James discussed how unlocking the full potential of battery systems is critical to achieving the full potential of the electrification revolution. James explored the advantages of battery intelligence software and how it can provide a complete understanding of performance and battery degradation. This will be key when setting residual values on electrically powered vehicles and equipment.

Finally, Tim Chapman from Hickman Shearer took to the stage to outline the rapidly changing nature of capital assets in response to navigating decarbonisation. This session outlined how lessors have a key role to play in enabling low-carbon growth through funding these assets. Tim highlighted asset valuation methods, the risks of fossil fuel intensive assets becoming stranded as well as new routes to market that embrace the circular economy.

The event culminated in a personalised tour of the MINI Factory in Oxford allowing for attendees to network, share thoughts and explore the complete assembly process.

Tim Howard, Managing Director of Hickman Shearer said; “This inaugural Insiders Event has been a great opportunity to bring together those from across the leasing and finance sector to drive forward this critical topic. At Hickman Shearer, we are proud to be at the forefront of a new era in green, low carbon machinery and equipment funding.”

Hickman Shearer are planning to host further Insiders Events in the future, so if interested to know more about them, then please contact [email protected].
