Following the appointment of Alan Coleman and Jason Elliot of Cowgills as Administrators of Llangollen Railway PLC, Lambert Smith Hampton have been instructed to organise an online auction of the surplus assets from the company. Highlights of the sale are the rolling stock and track maintenance plant including:
9 x BR Mark 1 coaches, BREL Mark 3A function coach, Type 13 diesel shunter, Case/Rexquote Superailer 988-P-SP2 road/ rail excavator (2003), Cowans Sheldon 56-ton rail mounted crane, BR type GUV box van bogie, Plasser Thurer 12-tonne general purpose rail crane and Lowmac 25-tonne wagon fitted with Atlas Terex hydraulic crane.
Also available are engineering assets together with handling equipment, most notably a 2017 XYZ Proturn SLX 425 x 1.25m CNC lathe as well as a Linde H30D Fork lift truck, a 2011 JCB 520.50 Loadall telehandler and a range of vans.
As we are expecting significant interest two view days have been arranged for Sunday 9 and Monday 10 May and the lots will be located at the picturesque Llangollen Railway Station which is in the heart of Llangollen, Denbighshire.
“We have had a fantastic response from parties interested in acquiring assets from this very popular and well known heritage railway located in the heart of North Wales” says Patrick Ditcham from Lambert Smith Hampton “and we can announce that a deal for the operational side of the business has been concluded thus meaning that the railway will continue to operate. However, this doesn’t include a number of the carriages and engineering plant so there is still a great opportunity to buy a piece of history.”
