A local business, Asset Realisation Services is helping to support a local resident who is embarking on a motorbike challenge to ride from Lands End to John O'Groats in just one day. The challenge can only be completed on A and B roads and is taking place on Monday 21st June, the longest day according to meteorologists to ensure as much daylight as possible for the journey.
Jim Lindsay aged 69 from Lancashire is a keen motorcyclist and The Longest Day Up is a motorbike challenge organised to support Cancer Research UK which involves riding from Lands End to John O'Groats only on A and B roads on the longest daylight day Monday the 21st of June. The conditions of entry include that motorbikes must have been purchased for no more than £300 and the participants in the event are all self-funded, Bikes, Petrol and accommodation meaning that 100% of donations reach the chosen charity, Cancer Research UK.
Last year's challenge was affected by the Covid pandemic but Jim is hopeful that this years event will be tremendously successful …“this is not a holiday, it is a serious endurance challenge on marginal motorcycles, which have to be kept running!” explains Jim, “I'm doing it to try and raise funds for an organisation that has seen its fundraising proceeds plummet during the last year due to the Covid pandemic, so we need to ensure there is no halt to the vital research activity carried out by Cancer Research UK. We have a Just Giving page set up for donations and after the event the bike will also feature in a classic car and motorbike auction being hosted by Asset Realisation Services with all proceeds also going to the fund too” Nathan from Asset Realisation services adds “once we heard about what Jim was up to we were keen to get involved - we have hundreds of classic cars, vans and motorbikes in our auctions throughout the year, which are bought by the public and trade, collectors, enthusiast and mechanics who are looking for projects, so we were happy to donate a motorbike to Jim and then subsequently try and sell it at our auction in July to try and make even more money for Cancer Research.”
