Market leading valuer and auctioneer Trevor Palethorpe has been appointed as a director of the Turnaround Management Association UK (TMA), an organisation dedicated to all aspects of business turnaround, recovery, and renewal.
The move comes as John Pye Auctions’ managing director Adam Pye steps down from the board to focus on the growth of the company, and Trevor was a natural successor for the role.
A global organisation with almost 10,000 members in 20 countries, TMA combines global networking with sharing the latest news within business recovery, corporate turnaround, and restructuring. As a result, Trevor will be responsible for key decision-making processes and continuing the work of achieving national and global recognition for the business, championing its mission through thought leadership and networking within the sector.
Trevor started his career with John Pye & Sons back in 1997 as a junior to company co-owner Ann Pye. Fast forward to 2021 he now jointly heads up the Business Assets and Property Divisions of John Pye, with more than two decades of experience in the turnaround and restructuring market. He has provided valuation and sales advice on some of the UK’s most high-profile cases including Phones4U, Jack Wills, and Jessops Plc.
Trevor said: “It would always have been an honour to join the board of TMA but to be taking over from Adam makes it even more special. The TMA is a fantastic organisation and counts the UK’s most eminent professionals amongst its members.
“I am looking forward to being an active member of the board and thus allowing me to give the years of experience and expertise back to the industry.”
Trevor brings real life experience to the role, having been part of the team that helped transform John Pye from the small family business it was in the 1990’s into the award-winning, multimillion pound business it is today, now running with a 500-strong team.
Trevor was also appointed Vice President of NAVA Propertymark (formerly the National Association of Valuers & Auctioneers) in 2021. Propertymark is the UK’s leading membership body for property agents.
Adam added: “I was delighted that Trevor allowed me to put his name forward for election to the board. There are very few people in our industry who have the experience and depth of knowledge across so many asset categories that he has, from fine art to plant & machinery and everything in between.
“Trevor will be an excellent ambassador for TMA as he has been for many years for John Pye and NAVA Propertymark.”
