Specialist Cars of Malton Porsche Marque assets to fall under the hammer with Walker Singleton

28th May 2020

The burgeoning number of car enthusiasts who, over the past 10 years, have attended the Yorkshire Big Breakfast meet in Malton have another reason to have the picturesque market town in the forefront of their mind – for the auction of the assets of the meet organiser, Specialist Cars of Malton.

Specialist Cars of Malton, who were recognised Porsche marque dealers with a reputation for tracking down the rare and unique models, ceased trading on 21st February 2020 after 25 years with the appointment of Adrian Graham and Ryan Holdsworth of Graywoods as Joint Administrators.

Walker Singleton, acting for the Administrators, are bringing to the market all the business’s assets ranging from a stock of retail cars, through to OEM parts for classic and modern performance cars to workshop/showroom equipment and Porsche memorabilia. Also coming to market are the company’s freehold car showroom and secure yard together with a car maintenance and repair workshop, both located on the York Road Industrial Estate, Malton.

Stephen Jones, Director in the Machinery & Business Assets department, commented “Specialist Cars of Malton were synonymous with classic and performance cars and the auction highlights this with lots ranging from a Euro Brun ex-Formula 1 car, Indy car and Porsche classics through  to car ramps and extensive parts stocks – nothing if not diverse. I don’t think the company themselves realised how extensive their stock of spares and parts was or the level of interest in the memorabilia they have accrued over the years, most of which relates to Porsche.”

The auction goes live on 18th May 2020 and runs to a close on 11th June 2020. It takes place online where a comprehensive catalogue, image bank and video tours can be viewed. Due to Covid-19 there are strict compliance with Government guidance in place, and viewings are on an appointment basis only.

Stephen Jones added “Preliminary marketing has triggered high levels of interest, as we anticipated, although we wouldn’t necessarily have expected enquires from as far afield as Australia and South America. Whilst, in the current period, there isn’t the opportunity for petrol heads to fire up their engines and head for a  live auction, I feel sure the sale will draw out the same feeling of competition and excitement – through the online bidding!!”
