Watts & Associates - Carlton General Sale

Our first auction on the 2019 calendar took place a few weeks ago in chilly Barnsley. There was a great entry of equipment forward given the time of year and well received by an equally impressive number of buyers registered for the sale. By and large the offering was of a good quality with larger volumes of later equipment coming to market.
The next auction is due to take place on Saturday 2nd of March, it will include the start of the early grass cutting machinery season so get your lots booked in to us early so we can start advertising your equipment straight away.

Ring 1 (Small Plant & Power Tools)
A slightly lower entry forward was chiefly made up of ex rental, tool hire equipment. The quality was a bit patchy in places but still the general trade was brisk and prices were firm throughout the day. Lots of buyers testing the equipment on view day (Friday) and electing to buy over the internet come sale day.

Ring 2 (Miscellaneous plant & garden machinery)

Another wide-ranging entry forward on ring 2 from buckets & breakers to chainsaws and road saws, pretty much a full house! Plenty of trade across all product lines and a high % cashed. As per usual anything branded in the Nissen building/garden machinery (Stihl & Husqvarna) sold very well and making good monies.

Ring 3 - Large contractor’s plant, grounds maintenance, agricultural, vehicles & trailers

A larger than anticipated January entry of large equipment was forward and well received by an eager audience of both UK and overseas buyers.

Some very strong internet buying at times particularly amongst high value lots. The lions share of the excavators, telehandlers, loaders & rollers offered were being bought for export.

Good clean machines were in strong demand and in many instances commanded a premium. Telehandlers and cabbed 1.5t excavators were in short supply and made for strong pickings.

The small entry of access equipment forward was very clean and equally sold to strong monies.

There was a good level of entries consigned
to ground care and bidding was generally strong, notably wood chippers and ATV’s, even the ride on mowers were a surprisingly good trade given the time of year, with the grass cutting season just around the corner the trade should strengthen more in future auctions.

20 vehicles were forward with tippers, 4x4’s and welfare vans reaching top prices, cheaper end petrol’s seemingly harder to cash, clean diesel cars however sold well.

The general theme across all 3 rings was clean serviceable equipment remains a strong trade with plenty of UK and overseas interest. Old defunked and obsolete equipment is cashable but at a price.
