Legendary 1960s London Routemaster Buses Go Under the Hammer
Wilsons Auctions is set to deliver a rare and historic opportunity as five authentic 1960s AEC Routemaster double decker buses, entered directly to auction on behalf of Transport for London, go under the hammer this March.
These instantly recognisable red London buses, each built around 1960, represent some of the last remaining original Routemasters that served the capital for decades, carrying millions of passengers across its most celebrated streets. Far from museum pieces, each vehicle has been meticulously maintained throughout its working life and remains in impressive running condition.

The auction will take place in a physical format, starting from 11am on Wednesday 4th March at Wilsons Auctions Newcastle, with live online bidding available for registered bidders. The buses are currently located at Transport for London’s West Ham Depot and will be available for viewing by appointment only from 18th–20th February, between 11am and 3pm.
