Background

BidHarvest® is part of a wider technology business that has been working with auctioneers globally since 2006. The new platform was built to address the increasing issue that clients faced in using multiple technology touch points to get things done. One app for running their back office, a separate website, another app for capturing media and sometimes the need to run completely different platforms to support multi vertical auction businesses servicing Livestock, Farm Machinery, Plant, Property and Chattels.

With their software processing over £25 billion in bid volumes and £1.5 billion in hammer annually, Auction Marketer know how to partner with clients to drive growth through the successful adoption of technology into their business. Their team have built the BidHarvest® platform from the ground up in partnership with clients in the Plant, Machinery and Salvage industries over the past two years, creating the most modern, unified, single cloud-based software solution that can deliver across multiple auction verticals.

Technology

With an established background in the fine art, chattels, collectables, property and plant/salvage auction industries, Auction Marketer identified that clients often wanted to be able to work across multiple verticals with ease. Most technology platforms made this restrictive or oversimplified the catalogue output for their users. Their platforms already catered for all the standard features that clients were used to, but when they ran focus groups with them, they discovered their clients wanted more.

Multi-Vertical Out of the Box

BidHarvest® was designed to cater for multiple verticals through intelligent use of category, sub-category and attribute groups. This achieved two clear goals.

Enabling multiple auction verticals and empowering their clients to build as many categories and associated attributes as they wanted, without the need for technical help. This game changing technology solution means that clients can now run all of their auction verticals from a single platform, simplifying administration, saving time, reducing buyer confusion through multiple sites/logins and unifying the accounting processes.

Ease of Use

The BidHarvest® team worked hard alongside auctioneers in Europe and North America to make sure that the processes for running auctions in volume are simple but thorough. Their parent, child, grandchild consigning system allows for better stocking structure within an auction receipt and its super easy to create as many consignment lines to a receipt as users want, in seconds, exporting it out for onsite cataloguing and bulk import right back into the parent receipt, along with images ahead of actually lotting.

Unified My Account Experience

Clients wanted to provide their bidders and sellers with a unified ‘my account’ experience. BidHarvest® offers a single point in the online experience where clients go to view all their active bids and history in a secure user portal, their watchlist items, their marketing preferences and their business paperwork, including invoices due and settled, digital signed contract, pre/post sale paperwork, settlement statements and pass-out/collection dockets.

Smart 3rd Party Connections

BidHarvest® was built with the intention of being as open as possible to working with complementary technologies. The platform offers hard-wired API connections to DVLA look-up and HPI checking software, enabling vehicle listings to be created quickly and comprehensively. Integrations are also available for property clients through RightMove and Zoopla, as well as payment integrations with Stripe, Worldpay and Opayo. Additional features include address lookup tools, various marketing integrations, and, above all, a fully documented API in Swagger for clients wishing to feed the auction platform directly from their existing back-office technologies.

Search Engine Effectiveness

BidHarvest® build on the history of Auction Marketer’s search engine effective technologies. They give teams the tools they need to make every page on their website search effective, users can modify auction listings as required and attributes can be added to the Google schema for even better indexing. BidHarvest® are actively introducing further features to support client viability in AI tools and there are exciting releases in the pipeline.

Customisation

Auction Marketer recognises that not all auction businesses are the same. BidHarvest® has been engineered to allow custom features to be added to the core product as modules. This enables businesses with very specific requirements to benefit from the core software while incorporating additional tools to suit their needs. Feature enhancements are rolled out to all users on a quarterly basis, and each time users log in, they can see which new features have been introduced and whether any reported bugs have been resolved. This proactive approach to development and bug management is a key factor in the ongoing success of BidHarvest®.

Support and Onboarding

BidHarvest® provides all users with a comprehensive onboarding experience, including train the trainer sessions and a complete product knowledgebase to ensure auctioneers can get up and running quickly.
