12th March 2026
A series of online auctions featuring construction machinery, commercial vehicles and support equipment from Caldwell Construction Limited will be held later this month, with the sales being managed by BPI Asset Advisory.
The auctions are being conducted on behalf of the company’s administrators, PKF Littlejohn Advisory, together with several major finance companies. Caldwell Construction, a groundworks and civil engineering contractor with operations in Stoke-on-Trent and Warrington, employed more than 400 staff and subcontractors and reported revenue of approximately £58 million to March 2025.
The business, which provided groundworks services to national housebuilders across the Midlands and North West, entered administration following cashflow pressures. Like many companies operating in the sector, it faced a combination of rising costs, project delays and wider market uncertainty.
Paul Smith, Partner at PKF Littlejohn Advisory UK LLP, said:
"The construction sector has faced challenging trading conditions over recent years, including increasing costs, delays to schemes and wider market uncertainty. These pressures were exacerbated at Caldwell, placing significant strain on cashflow and operations."
The online auctions will run from 23rd–27th March and will feature a wide selection of assets across several categories. Lots will include tracked excavators, articulated dumpers, tandem and trench rollers, commercial panel vans, as well as office and IT equipment.
The sales present an opportunity for buyers to acquire machinery, vehicles and operational equipment from a well-known contractor, with all items subject to vendor approval.
Emily Higginbottom, Machinery & Business Asset Surveyor at BPI Asset Advisory, commented:
"Working closely with the administrators and finance partners, we are ensuring a structured and transparent sale process. These auctions represent a rare chance to secure a broad range of construction machinery and commercial vehicles."
Viewings are available by appointment, and interested buyers are encouraged to register to bid online ahead of the auctions. To arrange a viewing or register, contact [email protected].
