Euro Auctions Predicts Unprecedented Interest in an Upcoming Sale

5th September 2019

WH Bond - Retirement sale of over 1,200 pieces of exceptional construction and agricultural machinery and equipment – dates announced – 3rd & 4th October. Euro Auctions predicts unprecedented interest in the upcoming sale of construction and agricultural machinery from WH Bond, which will include over 1,200 lots of well-maintained machines, including models from predominantly 2019, 2018, and 2017.

Euro Auctions, is pleased to announce their appointment as valuer and auctioneers to manage the disposal of machinery and equipment on behalf of Cornwall based WH Bond and Sons Ltd. This family run business is one the leaders in the field in the West Country and has an exceptional inventory of stock that will go under the hammer on the 3rd and 4th October.  Due to market conditions, coupled with the uncertainty of how Brexit will affect the plant and machinery sectors, WH Bond has made the decision to retire the plant hire and agricultural machinery sales division of the business with immediate effect.

David Betts, Euro Auctions ‘Territory Manager’ for the UK and manager of this sale comments, “With over 1,200 lots of quality equipment up for sale, this is one of the most eagerly awaited off-site sales of 2019. With predominantly 2019 to 2016 machines in the catalogue, that are in ‘like new’ condition, this sale will draw much attention from the buyers. The care and attention bestowed on each item for sale by WH Bond is evident and will ensure the line-up on sale day will be more than impressive. The newer, large ticket, items in the 1,200-machine line up puts estimates of the value of this two-day sale at £15 million.”

What to ‘Look Out’ For
The sale will be conducted over two days and there will be something for everyone.
Excavators Over 130 lots, including 35t, 20t, 13t, 8t, and Mini, with notable brands including Volvo, CAT, Takeuchi and Kobelco
Dumpers Over 80 lots, including 10t, 9t, 6t, and 3t, predominantly Thwaites, ranging from 2015 to 2019
Telehandlers The most comprehensive collection of over 260 pieces including a good collection of first class attachments, with ranges, mainly JCB and Manitou, from 2018 to 2019
Tractors & Agri Equipment Over 200 lots including Deuz-Fahr, New Holland, John Deere, Fendt, Vicon, K-Two, Maschio, Horsch, Redrock & LucasG
Other stock Including: Rollers, backhoes, dump trucks, dozers, breakers, bowsers, cabins, trailers, mixers, buckets, general attachments, and small tools
Vehicles Various site vehicles and a good selection of 4x4’s

David Betts concludes “As well as the ‘big ticket’ items the general inventory includes the type of machinery, equipment and tools one would expect from a modern well-run plant and machinery hire and sales specialist in the construction and agricultural markets. In my opinion, after the regular Leeds sale, this is the one to attend in 2019.”

About WH Bond
WH Bond & Sons Ltd is a family owned and family run business operating throughout the South West. William Hermon Bond was a tenant farmer of the Port Eliot Estate. His farm expanded from around 30 acres supplemented by a local milk round to, 140 acres in nearby Trerulefoot in 1942. William saw rapid improvement in yields were going to cause over-production and told his three sons – Jim, Hermon and Martin – that they would “farm themselves out of business”. This piece of advice would lead the Bond family to become “serial diversifiers” for the next 60 years with a variety of businesses. In 1957, William joined forces with his two Sons and in 1957, WH Bond & Sons was formed. They rapidly grew the farm & even diversified into the golfing world in the early 1970`s; building & operating a number of courses which they retired from in 1998. Today, diversification is still a keyword of the WH Bond business with the company offering high quality customer service across all our departments, which include: Timber Sales, Plant Hire, Machinery Sales, Civil Engineering, Earthmoving, Agriculture and Land Development.
