John Pye Strengthens Leadership with New Business Development Director

16th December 2025

National auctioneer John Pye & Sons Ltd has reinforced its senior leadership team with the appointment of Liz Fuge as Director of Business Development, a newly created role designed to bring greater alignment and strategic focus across the business.

The appointment sees the business development function placed at the centre of John Pye’s operations, supporting closer collaboration between its Retail, Luxury, Vehicles, Business Assets, Trade and Property divisions. The move reflects the company’s continued focus on delivering a consistent and joined-up approach for both new and existing clients.

Liz Fuge joins John Pye following a successful career in corporate banking, where she held senior positions at several of the UK’s leading financial institutions, including Lloyds, NatWest and HSBC. Most recently, she spent seven years as Deputy Head of Corporate Banking for HSBC in the East Midlands, gaining extensive experience working with businesses across a wide range of sectors.

Speaking about her appointment, Liz said she was drawn to the strength of the John Pye brand and its family-owned values. She highlighted the opportunity to build a cohesive business development strategy that supports long-term growth, while creating new opportunities and delivering a consistent experience for clients across all service lines.

Liz joined the business in November and is tasked with setting the strategic direction for business development activity across all markets, from business assets and vehicles to luxury, retail and property. Working closely with her team, her focus will be on driving sustainable revenue growth, improving margins and supporting market diversification across the wider group.

Trevor Palethorpe, Director at John Pye, commented that the appointment marks an important step in the evolution of the company’s commercial strategy. He noted that bringing all business development activity under one structure has been a long-standing ambition for the Board and said Liz’s experience and leadership make her ideally placed to help deliver the next phase of growth.

John Pye & Sons Ltd has grown to become one of the UK’s leading commercial auction houses, offering more than 26 million items for auction each year. With over 800,000 registered bidders and more than 40,000 live lots weekly, the company supports businesses nationwide in realising value from surplus assets, businesses and property.
