Leading national auctioneer John Pye & Sons Ltd is offering a unique bronze statue of football icon Sir Geoff Hurst as part of its latest luxury auction line-up.
The miniature sculpture, crafted by world-renowned artist Andrew Edwards, captures the moment Hurst scored one of his three legendary goals in England’s 4-2 victory over West Germany during the 1966 FIFA World Cup Final. The exclusive piece is open for bidding until Thursday 13th June.
Hosted online, the Memorabilia and Print Auction features in-person viewing at John Pye’s Nottingham Luxury Department. Alongside the Hurst statue, the auction includes a standout collection of signed sporting memorabilia - ranging from Manchester United collectables and NBA championship basketballs to Red Bull F1 team mini helmets, a signed Rolling Stones CD gold disc and James McQueen ‘Non-Fiction’ Mixed Media Prints.
The headline lot - a one-off 14-inch bronze of Sir Geoff Hurst - is being sold on behalf of a private collector, with all proceeds supporting Leukaemia research. Valued at around £20,000, the piece is expected to attract significant interest from football enthusiasts - particularly fans of England, West Ham, Stoke City and West Bromwich - as well as collectors of iconic sports memorabilia. The winning bidder will also be invited to receive the statue in person from Sir Geoff Hurst himself.
Gillian Graham, from John Pye’s Luxury team, commented:
“This is a rare opportunity to own a stunning piece of football history and meet the man behind one of England’s greatest sporting moments.”
Other highlights in the sale include signed photos of George Best and the 1968 Manchester United European Cup squad, memorabilia from F1 stars Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo, and a curated selection of Newcastle United autographed prints.
Private viewings can be arranged at John Pye’s Nottingham headquarters (Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm) by emailing [email protected] or calling 0115 970 6060.
